SECRET ASSISTANCE: Israel Helping Saudi Arabia Battle Houthis As IDF Prepares For Possible Attack
Israel is reportedly providing intelligence assistance to Saudi Arabia in its campaign against the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen, while preparing for the possibility that the group will attack Israel as part of a broader regional conflict.
A security official confirmed that Israel’s intelligence community, particularly Military Intelligence Unit 9900, is assisting the Saudi military through American mediation and under instructions from Israel’s political leadership.
The Saudi strikes are degrading the Houthis’ military capabilities while giving Israel an opportunity to study the terrorist group’s weapons, tactics and methods of operation.
The official explained that the campaign serves Israel’s interests by wearing down an enemy preparing for future attacks against the Jewish state. Israeli intelligence is also closely monitoring the fighting to learn about weapons in the Houthis’ possession, including systems that were not necessarily manufactured by the group itself.
Despite the damage, the official cautioned that the Houthis remain a serious enemy with an established military structure capable of sustaining a prolonged conflict. However, the current scale of the fighting presents a significant challenge.
“The Houthis are accustomed to building up their forces, rather than deploying them on this scale,” the official said, adding that the group’s decision to confront its enemies sequentially rather than simultaneously reflects those difficulties.
Other Sunni countries are watching the developments with concern, and additional intervention in support of Saudi Arabia remains possible. The official said Israel assesses that other countries will become involved, although the situation remains open.
Meanwhile, the IDF is preparing for a potential Houthi attack as part of a conflict across multiple fronts that could also involve Iran, Hezbollah and Shiite militias in Iraq.
Those preparations span naval, aerial, ground and electromagnetic operations, and include integrating new technologies and sensors while strengthening connectivity between IDF systems.
