Monsey Eruv Weekly Inspection Report — Parshas Lech Lecha

Oct 22, 2026·3 min read

The Eruv of Monsey released its weekly inspection report ahead of Shabbos Parshas Lech Lecha, with inspectors identifying 11 issues across the Eruv system. Seven were determined to be not kosher and required immediate attention, two were classified as high-priority, and two were considered medium-priority.

Following this week’s inspections and repairs, officials confirmed that all sections of the Eruv are kosher and operational for Shabbos.

In Airmont, crews completed two repairs along Shuart Road after cables pulled Eruv wires out of their proper positions at two separate locations. Both issues were corrected.

In the Monsey Rambam Eruv 1 section, inspectors reviewed newly installed fencing along Aselim Drive. Additional fencing is expected to be installed in the near future, after which the existing Eruv string will be removed. Officials confirmed that the section remains kosher during the ongoing work.

In the Monsey Rambam Eruv 2 section, crews repaired a fallen Eruv string along College Road.

In Haverstraw, two repairs were completed. Along Mount Ivy Road, crews removed ivy that had grown around and covered an Eruv pole. On Route 202, a gap between an Eruv pole and a fence was repaired.

Additional repairs were completed in Pomona. Along Call Hollow Road, crews replaced a damaged PVC lechi and trimmed branches that were interfering with the Eruv.

On Hammon Road, a motor vehicle accident last Friday damaged a utility pole, requiring emergency repairs before Shabbos. This week, Eruv crews completed additional improvements to the affected area. While permanent work remains pending until the utility company finishes its repairs, officials confirmed that the Eruv is currently kosher.

The Suffern, Good Samaritan Hospital Rambam, Chestnut Ridge, Pearl River, Montebello, Spring Valley, Spring Valley Rambam, Nanuet Rambam, Wesley Hills, New Hempstead, New City, and Hillcrest sections were also inspected and confirmed kosher.

Additional Eruv Inspections and Infrastructure Improvements

Beyond the regular weekly repairs, crews conducted a detailed inspection of approximately 13 locations throughout Pomona where gud asik lechis are used. Each location was checked to ensure the lechis remained properly aligned beneath the Eruv wires, with no branches, vegetation, or other obstructions interfering with their placement.

Crews also monitored a new construction project near Saddle River Road, before the New York State Thruway overpass, where trees are being cleared along approximately 500 feet of fencing used by the Eruv.

During the inspection, crews discovered damage near the beginning of the property and contacted the contractor to emphasize the importance of protecting the Eruv infrastructure. The contractor was instructed to ensure workers take appropriate precautions and promptly repair any damage caused during construction.

Eruv officials said the additional inspections and preventative maintenance are part of their ongoing efforts to strengthen the system and prevent future disruptions.

With all necessary repairs completed and all sections confirmed kosher, the Eruv of Monsey announced that the entire system is operational ahead of Shabbos Parshas Lech Lecha.
