YESHIVA BOCHURIM FREED: Eight Released From Military Prison After Being Jailed For Learning Torah
Eight yeshiva bochurim were released from Military Prison 10 on Friday morning after serving prison sentences for failing to report for military service while continuing their Torah Learning .
The bochurim, who were arrested in separate incidents across Israel, spent between 10 days and approximately five weeks in military detention.
Among those released was Yakir Ralbag, a bochur at Yeshivas Chevron, who spent 17 days in prison after being arrested in Eilat.
Eliyahu Davda, a bochur at Yeshivas Orchos Meir, was released after 16 days in detention. He had been arrested at his home in Be’er Sheva.
Itamar Shuker was released after serving 20 days in prison, following his detention at a police station in Yerushalayim.
Uriel Elnatanov, who was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport, was also released after 20 days in military prison.
Nehorai Dahan, who was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport upon returning from Uman, was released after 10 days in detention.
Yishai Sogbaker, who was arrested at the military recruitment office in Yerushalayim, completed a 20-day prison sentence.
Also released was Elchanan Neiman, a Chabad bochur who spent 17 days in detention.
Eliyah Uzri, who was arrested upon returning from Uman, was released after approximately five weeks in military prison, the longest detention period among the eight bochurim.
Following their release, a special welcoming ceremony was held outside the gates of Military Prison 10, organized by the Notnim Gav organization.
Dozens of fellow bochurim, family members, and friends gathered to greet the released prisoners with singing and dancing, celebrating their return to freedom after being imprisoned over their refusal to enlist in the IDF.
The organization also presented the bochurim with special gifts in recognition of their determination to continue learning Torah despite their imprisonment.
The releases come amid growing outrage in the Charedi community over the continued arrests of yeshiva bochurim, with the draft crisis remaining a central issue ahead of Tuesday’s Knesset elections.
