Monsey School Bus Safety Campaign Distributes Appreciation Packages to Bus Drivers Ahead of Shabbos
As part of an ongoing school bus safety awareness campaign, Hatzoloh EMS of Rockland County, Chaverim Of Rockland, and the Community Outreach Center joined forces to distribute special appreciation packages to school bus drivers across Monsey on Friday, recognizing their dedication to keeping thousands of children safe each day.
The initiative is part of a broader communitywide effort to establish a clear and consistent school bus safety system, educating children and parents about the importance of following drivers’ hand signals, remaining on sidewalks, and never chasing after a school bus.
Each driver received a specially prepared Shabbos package featuring a personalized appreciation letter, a travel coffee mug, a cake for Shabbos, a children’s game, educational safety materials, and vouchers for seven free coffees, generously sponsored by Exxon on the Hill, located on Route 59 in Monsey.
The accompanying letter, titled “A Gutten Erev Shabbos, Dear Driver,” emphasized the critical responsibility bus drivers carry every day while reassuring them that the campaign is designed to make their jobs easier, not add additional pressure.
“This campaign is not here to put more pressure on the drivers. Just the opposite. We’re here for you. This campaign is here to give you the backing of the entire community,” the letter stated.
Organizers emphasized that the goal is to create a safer environment for children while strengthening cooperation between drivers, parents, and students through consistent safety practices.
The campaign also serves as a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the drivers who transport hundreds of children daily, recognizing their patience, dedication, and vital role in protecting the community’s youngest members.
The joint initiative will continue promoting school bus safety awareness throughout the Monsey community, with a strong focus on ensuring that children understand and follow the proper safety procedures when boarding and exiting school buses.
