HEZBOLLAH PLOT: Tennessee Man Gets 17½ Years After Sharing Details Of 35,000 Israelis With Suspected Terror Contact
A 28-year-old Tennessee man has been sentenced to 17½ years in federal prison for attempting to provide material support to Hezbollah and carrying out a racially motivated arson attack on a civil rights center.
According to the Justice Department, Reagan Darby Prater obtained a document containing personal information on more than 35,000 Israeli citizens and government employees purportedly connected to the Israeli government.
Prater sent the information to someone he believed was acting on behalf of Hezbollah, encouraging the recipient to begin hunting those listed in the document.
The case also involved Prater’s arson attack on the Highlander Center in New Market, Tennessee, a nonprofit research and educational institution with longstanding ties to the civil rights movement.
Prater admitted in April that he traveled to the center and set its main building on fire using a homemade incendiary device described as a napalm bomb. The attack caused extensive property damage.
Before fleeing, Prater spray-painted the symbol of the Iron Guard, a Romanian fascist and antisemitic movement, in the center’s parking lot.
During questioning, Prater admitted that white supremacist beliefs motivated the attack, along with his opposition to the center’s educational work and values.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered Prater to serve three years of supervised release and pay $1.289 million in restitution for the damage.
