HaGaon HaRav Dov Landau, Rosh Yeshivas Slabodka, has issued a blistering letter against the newly established HaTzibur HaChareidi party, warning that he will fight its activities with every resource at his disposal.

The unusually sharp letter, revealed by the Israeli publication L’Chatchila and reported by Kikar HaShabbat, was addressed to a Rav associated with the new party who had recently visited Rav Landau’s home to inquire about his position and subsequently spoke with the Rosh Yeshiva’s son.

In the letter, Rav Landau wrote:

“My son told me what you said, which is great foolishness, if not great wickedness.”

The Rosh Yeshiva then issued an unequivocal warning:

“I will fight against you with all the strength I have and even the strength I do not have, because you are causing great harm to Chareidi Judaism.”

Rav Landau concluded with an exceptionally severe comparison intended to emphasize his opposition to the party’s activities.

“Your actions are like eating forbidden fats on Yom Kippur and eating chametz on Seder night. I wrote this comparison to emphasize the severity of these matters. Retract, retract your actions, and do not cause harm.”

The letter comes just days before Israel’s Knesset elections, amid growing tensions surrounding the emergence of alternative Chareidi political parties challenging the established Chareidi factions.
