IRAN WAR: Netanyahu Reportedly Weighs Major Strike Even If He Loses Tuesday’s Elections
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is reportedly considering another major military operation against Iran, potentially even if he loses Tuesday’s Knesset elections, amid mounting concerns in Washington over Iranian assassination plots targeting senior American officials.
According to a New York Times report, Netanyahu could consider launching one final strike against Iran before leaving office, believing that his successor might hesitate to authorize such an operation.
The report comes as American intelligence officials warn that Iran has significantly increased its efforts to target U.S. diplomats and government personnel, with several suspected assassination plots reportedly reaching advanced stages.
An October 23 intelligence memorandum warned of Iranian plans targeting American personnel in the Middle East and other countries. American officials also reportedly believe Tehran could attempt to assassinate U.S. ambassadors in the region and officials on American soil.
The threats come amid preparations for another possible round of American and Israeli strikes against Iran. U.S. Central Command has reportedly developed an expanded list of potential targets, including Iranian energy infrastructure and facilities vital to the country’s economy.
President Donald Trump is also weighing renewed military action, with American officials reporting that he has appeared increasingly inclined toward another major operation. However, no final decision has been announced, and the timing remains uncertain.
The developments come ahead of Israel’s October 27 elections and the November 3 American midterms, with both governments facing major political decisions as tensions with Tehran continue.
Diplomats have warned that the combination of Iranian assassination threats and preparations for renewed military operations could trigger a broader regional conflict, potentially following even a relatively minor incident involving American personnel.
For now, both Washington and Jerusalem continue examining their military options, with no official announcement of an imminent strike.
