ELECTION CONTROVERSY: Netanyahu Posts Image Of Nuclear Attack On Tel Aviv, Sparking Opposition Backlash
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sparked criticism from opposition leaders on Sunday after publishing a simulated image of a nuclear bomb striking Tel Aviv, warning of the threat posed by Iran just two days before Israel’s Knesset elections.
In a post on social media, Netanyahu shared remarks by Yuval Blumberg, a technology entrepreneur and author of the book “The Oslo Trap,” who warned that Iran obtaining nuclear weapons would pose an existential threat to Israel.
Blumberg wrote that Israel faces a genuine and immediate existential danger, arguing that other political controversies have become insignificant compared to the Iranian nuclear threat and the Iranian-led regional axis.
Netanyahu added that the political controversies dominating recent headlines were intended to divert public attention from what he described as Israel’s most important mission: completing its objectives against Iran.
He specifically mentioned the Qatar affair, the controversy surrounding the drafting of Chareidim, and the investigation involving his adviser Yonatan Urich, describing the controversies as a massive smokescreen distracting from the Iranian threat.

Opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot sharply criticized the post, accusing Netanyahu of attempting to frighten voters ahead of Tuesday’s elections.
“Another fearmongering video by Netanyahu. You’re in a panic,” Eisenkot said, accusing the prime minister of returning to what he described as a campaign of lies and intimidation.
Democrats chairman Yair Golan also condemned the image, calling for Netanyahu to be kept away from social media.
“The prime minister of Israel published an image of an atomic bomb on Tel Aviv,” Golan said. “The man and those around him have lost it. The pressure is mounting.”
