URGENT WARNING: Hamas Threatens Another October 7-Style Attack, IDF General Alerts Netanyahu

Oct 25, 2026·2 min read

Senior Hamas officials have explicitly threatened to carry out another October 7-style terrorist attack against Israel, including potential attacks inside Israel, Judea and Samaria, and abroad. The unusually direct threat prompted an urgent warning to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, Channel 13 reported.

According to the reports, senior Hamas leaders met last week with UN humanitarian coordinator Ramiz Alakbarov at his office in Gaza, specifically requesting that he relay their warning to Israel. Alakbarov subsequently delivered the message to the IDF’s chief liaison to the Palestinians.

Maj. Gen. Yoram Halevy, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, detailed the threat in an urgent letter to Netanyahu and Katz. Hamas officials complained that ongoing IDF operations in Gaza, the movement of the Yellow Line, and the Palestinian Authority’s cancellation of elections were undermining their control on the ground.

Halevy wrote that Hamas had explicitly threatened to carry out another attack resembling October 7 wherever an opportunity presented itself, including inside Israel, in Judea and Samaria, and overseas. He described the warning as unusually blunt and direct, noting that Hamas had not previously conveyed such a threat in these terms.

Israel’s security establishment is examining whether Hamas currently possesses the capabilities to carry out such an attack, particularly given the extensive IDF presence in Gaza. Officials are also considering the possibility that the threat could materialize further into the future.

Separately, intelligence briefings presented to Israel’s security cabinet indicate that Hamas has increased preparations for renewed fighting, including stockpiling weapons and transferring them into civilian areas. Hamas reportedly believes Israel is unlikely to launch another large-scale military operation before the November 3 U.S. midterm elections.

The developments come as implementation of President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan remains stalled, with Hamas refusing to disarm and Israel maintaining that it will not withdraw from additional territory until that condition is fulfilled. Meanwhile, the IDF continues conducting strikes against terrorists preparing attacks and has gradually expanded the territory under its control by moving the Yellow Line westward.
