ISIS LOYALIST: Israeli Arab Who Swore Allegiance To Terror Group Charged In Haifa
The Haifa District Prosecutor’s Office was set to file an indictment on Monday morning at the Haifa Magistrate’s Court against Muhammad Suweitat, 21, of Shefa-Amr in the Galilee, who swore allegiance to the ISIS terror organization.
According to a joint statement from the Shin Bet and Israel Police, the suspect was arrested in a joint operation on September 28 on security offenses.
During his interrogation by the Shin Bet and the police’s Northern District Central Unit, it emerged that he had sworn allegiance to the terror organization several times, while supporting its ideologies and consuming its content.
Investigators also found that Suweitat posted ISIS content online, corresponded with supporters of the organization, and worked to convince his friends to support his path, with the aim of advancing the group’s activity.
The indictment is being filed by attorney Segev Adler.
The Shin Bet and police said they “view with great severity any involvement of Israeli citizens in activity that endangers the security of the state and its citizens,” and that they will “take all measures at their disposal to bring those involved in this activity to justice.”
