Jewish Woman Flees To Shelter After Muslim Partner Allegedly Threatens Her Over Vote For Shas

Nov 3, 2026·3 min read

A Jewish woman in Israel was forced to flee her home and seek refuge in a shelter for abused women after allegedly being threatened by her Muslim partner over her decision to vote for the Shas party in last week’s Knesset elections.

The disturbing case came to the attention of Yad L’Achim on Monday, after the woman’s sister contacted the organization requesting urgent assistance.

According to the information provided to Yad L’Achim, the woman fled the home she shared with the man on Election Day after he allegedly threatened her because she had voted for Shas.

Police assisted in transferring her to a women’s shelter, where she remains under protection.

The man reportedly fled to Palestinian Authority-controlled areas of Yehuda and Shomron following the incident, and police are searching for him.

The woman’s sister told Yad L’Achim that the relationship had continued intermittently for approximately 13 years, during which the woman repeatedly struggled to separate herself from the man.

Both sisters are orphans, and the loss of their parents has left them without a reliable family support system.

According to the sister, financial dependence has been a major obstacle to ending the relationship permanently. The man has periodically provided the woman with financial assistance, contributing to her repeated return to the relationship despite the difficulties.

In her urgent appeal to Yad L’Achim, the sister described the distressing circumstances and expressed fears that the situation could escalate further.

“I am afraid that we are in danger,” she wrote.

Upon receiving the request Monday morning, Yad L’Achim began reviewing the case and exploring ways to provide the woman and her sister with the assistance necessary to escape the dangerous situation and rebuild their lives.

In a statement, Yad L’Achim expressed serious concern over the allegations and emphasized the importance of helping women who find themselves trapped in abusive relationships.

“This is a serious and troubling case involving a woman who lived for years in a complicated relationship and was now forced to flee to a shelter for abused women following threats from him,” the organization said.

“Financial hardship and the absence of family support make it difficult for her to break away from the relationship and build a safe and stable life. We attach great importance to providing assistance and guidance to women in such situations, and we will do everything we can to help the woman and her sister escape the cycle of violence and fear.”

The organization said it is working to determine what practical support can be provided to the sisters, including assistance aimed at helping the woman achieve financial independence and establish a secure living environment.

The allegations remain under investigation.
