Armed militias opposed to Hamas rule carried out an unusual overnight raid into the center of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, according to reports in Palestinian media.
According to the reports in Gaza, the force operated under close air cover by IDF drones, which allowed it to operate and withdraw safely.
The target of the operation was the area of the Abu Hamid square and the al-Karama camp, where members of the well-known Barbakh clan live.
During the operation, Hamas terrorists in the area identified the militia force, and heavy exchanges of fire broke out, documented by locals throughout the night.
Despite the resistance from Hamas, the force completed the mission and escaped the scene.
The Barbakh clan confirmed on Monday morning that “a large number” of family members were kidnapped. Gazan journalists reported at least four abductees.
