A tense situation unfolded this morning on 60th Street and 9th Avenue after a female worker was reportedly threatened with a gun and forced to flee her workplace, prompting a large NYPD response.
According to reports, the suspect displayed what appeared to be a firearm, causing the worker to run from the location for her safety. The suspect then barricaded himself inside, escalating the incident and leading to the deployment of NYPD Emergency Service Unit (ESU) officers along with other specially trained units.
As a precaution, 60th Street was temporarily closed between 9th Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway while police worked to secure the area and assess the situation.
After several hours, police determined they were unable to enter the location without a warrant. The street was subsequently reopened, and all ESU personnel cleared the scene. Officers from the 66th Precinct remains stationed in front of the home to secure the location.
No injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
