FDNY units responded to reports of a fire inside the building and encountered heavy smoke conditions upon arrival. Firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control, and FDNY thawing units were also called in to address frozen hydrants in the area. No firefighter injuries were reported.

Sadly, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of family members. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshal.
