This morning, Monday, the IDF confirmed a rare overnight special forces ground raid deep inside southern Lebanon, capturing a senior al-Jama’a al-Islamiyya terrorist and bringing him into Israel for interrogation.

The operation took place overnight in the Mount Dov area, with Israeli forces entering a Lebanese village roughly 6 miles from the border, seizing the suspect alive inside his home and locating weapons at the site before withdrawing around 5 a.m.

Israeli officials said the decision to capture rather than kill the Sunni Islamist operative, linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and active against Israel throughout the war, was driven by his high intelligence value, with questioning expected to expose ongoing terror planning in Lebanon and Syria.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam strongly condemned the operation, stating: “The abduction of the Lebanese citizen from his home by Israel constitutes a blatant assault on Lebanon’s sovereignty, a violation of the declared cessation of hostilities, and a breach of international law. I have instructed the Foreign Minister to take immediate action and address the matter with the United Nations.”
