The child initially suffered second-degree burns to her stomach over Shabbos. She was taken to the hospital and released, but she then suffered an infection that caused a high fever.

She was hospitalized again at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where doctors. Due to the severity of her condition, she was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where the child was treated for the infection; unfortunately, the medication was too strong, and doctors had to stop administering it.
