An Important Message from Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles Ahead of Impending Storm
Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles issued the following statement to TLS.
Good morning. I am sure many of you are as tired of seeing these messages, as I am of writing them. Unfortunately Mother Nature has other plans for us.
You are probably aware that we are facing another significant Snow Storm, this time with higher amounts of snow and high winds, a Blizzard in other words.
Public Works and our contactors are already mobilizing to keep the roads as clear as possible. OEM has already mobilized to handle any emergencies which arise during the storm. Our volunteer organizations are on board & in contact with OEM to respond to situations as they occur. I heard from JCP&L this morning & they have crews from outside the area on hand to restore any power outages as quickly as possible
The snow will be starting later this afternoon. At times, it may be coming down as much as 1-3 inches per hour. While our plows will be following their routes constantly, it may seem at times that the street has not been plowed. Please be as patient as possible and do not try to go out. If there is an emergency, call for help so that crews can safely reach you. Do not expect the streets to be completely clear until the snow has slowed down.
In order to speed the clearing process, please make sure your cars are off the street and all garbage cans are brought in from the curb.
This is going to be a wet heavy snow. You must be extra careful when shoveling your walks and driveways. Keep and eye out for your elderly neighbors and help each other out where possible. If you are in the Raintree area and see me out with the snow blower, feel free to start a snow ball fight
