It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of HaRav HaGaon Reb Shlomo Leib Zweiback, zt”l, a distinguished talmid chacham and pillar of the Mountaindale community.
Rav Zweiback served with devotion as the R”M and Posek of Yeshiva Zichron Mayer in Mountaindale, New York, leaving behind a legacy of profound learning and guidance.
Born on the 11th of Iyar, 5702 (1942), in the Boro Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, Rav Zweiback grew up in an atmosphere saturated with Torah. He became a primary talmid of HaRav Yehuda Davis, zt”l, under whose tutelage he flourished.
His commitment to his Rebbi was unwavering; when the Yeshiva and Kollel relocated from Brighton to Mountaindale, Rav Zweiback moved along with the Kollel to the Catskills. This move marked the beginning of decades of service to the Mountaindale community, where he became a cornerstone of the local institution.
As a R”M and Posek of the community, Rav Zweiback was known for his clarity in Shulchan Aruch and his ability to transmit complex concepts to his talmidim. His life was a testament to the endurance of the Yeshiva movement in America, bridging the world of his youth in Brooklyn with the vibrant center of Torah he helped maintain in the mountains.
The Levaya will be held today, Tuesday, February 24, at 2:00 PM at 613 Ramsey Avenue, Lakewood, NJ, and The family will sit Shiva at 50 Pawnee Road, Lakewood, NJ.
