Trash, recycling, and compost collections across New York City are delayed as crews continue cleaning up after the winter storm that dropped more than a foot of snow on the city.
Officials are advising residents to expect service disruptions through the weekend as snow removal operations remain the priority.
During the height of the storm, Department of Sanitation Commissioner Javier Lojan asked New Yorkers to hold off on putting out recyclables if possible.
“There will be some delays. If you have scheduled recycling, we are asking everybody to hold it if possible. Once we resume collection, we will prioritize the trash and the compost… we hope to get back on track soon,” Lojan said.
To help speed up plowing and snow removal, Alternate Side Parking rules have been suspended through March 1.
Residents are encouraged to stay patient as crews work to clear streets and restore regular collection schedules in the coming days.
