IDF Uncovers And Destroys Massive Hamas Tunnel Network In Gaza

Feb 26, 2026·2 min read

In a powerful blow to Hamas terror infrastructure, IDF forces operating under the Southern Command have systematically uncovered and destroyed vast underground bunker systems east of the Yellow Line in northern Gaza.

Troops from the 98th Division, working alongside the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit, carried out precision drilling operations that exposed and demolished just over three miles of underground terror tunnels in the Beit Hanoun area. The tunnels, part of Hamas’s sprawling terror network, were embedded beneath civilian terrain and designed to support attacks against Israeli forces and communities.

Above ground and below it, terrorist infrastructure was dismantled piece by piece.

During the operation, soldiers uncovered a significant weapons cache hidden along an operational route. The arsenal included surveillance and observation equipment, explosive devices, ammunition, grenades, launchers, rifles and RPG rockets. The discovery underscores the scale of preparations Hamas continues to make for attacks.

Earlier in the day, fighters from the Golani Brigade Combat Team operating in southern Gaza identified a terrorist who crossed the Yellow Line and advanced toward Israeli troops in a threatening manner. Within moments of identification, the forces neutralized the terrorist, removing the immediate danger.

The IDF confirmed that its forces remain deployed in accordance with existing agreements and will continue proactive operations to eliminate threats both underground and on the surface.

As Israel confronts an enemy that hides behind tunnels and stockpiles weapons among civilian areas, the systematic destruction of this terror network marks another decisive step in securing the region and protecting Israeli lives.
