MOMENTS AGO: Trump Warns Iran of ‘Very Bad Day’ if Nuclear Talks Fail
Speaking in Corpus Christi, Texas, President Donald Trump delivered blunt remarks on the ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran, signaling deep dissatisfaction with the current direction of talks.
“We’re not happy with the negotiations,” Trump said, arguing that Iran has refused to explicitly commit to the “key words” he says matter most: that it will not pursue a nuclear weapon. He also rejected any level of uranium enrichment, dismissing proposals that would allow enrichment for civilian purposes. “They want enrichment. I say no enrichment — not 20%, not 30%,” he stated, expressing skepticism toward Tehran’s claims that its program is purely civil.
Trump framed the standoff in historical terms, saying the United States has been “playing with them for 47 years,” and warning that if no agreement is reached, “it will be a very bad day for that country.” While he did not elaborate on potential consequences, the implication was clear: military or economic escalation remains on the table.
He sharply criticized the 2015 nuclear agreement negotiated under former President Barack Obama, calling it “one of the dumbest deals I’ve ever seen” and arguing it provided Iran with a pathway to a nuclear weapon. In contrast, Trump suggested that any deal under his leadership would permanently block that route.
Asked about the possibility of military strikes and the potential impact on oil markets, Trump declined to provide specifics. “I’m not concerned about oil prices. I’m concerned about people’s lives,” he said, adding that he would not reveal operational details. “We have a lot of things going, and we’ll see what happens.”
