Baruch Hashem, the weather this week has been absolutely gorgeous. The snow on the ground is soft, light, and easy to move. There really is no excuse not to shovel.
Over a week has passed since the storm, and unfortunately many sidewalks remain completely blocked. I personally know of an elderly man who was unable to walk to shul this past Shabbos because there was no clear path along his route. Another father shared that he has had to drive his children to the bus stop every morning because the sidewalks are still not passable.
This is not just about convenience. It is about safety, responsibility, and basic consideration for others in our community.
If shoveling is physically difficult for you, there are plenty of local kids who would gladly do the job for a few dollars. It takes just a short amount of time, especially with how light the snow is right now. A small effort can make a huge difference for seniors, children, and parents pushing strollers.
A special reminder to homeowners whose properties are currently unoccupied: it is still your responsibility to ensure the sidewalks are cleared. Leaving them covered is unfair to your neighbors and simply not mentchlich.
Please take a few minutes this Sunday to shovel the sidewalk along your property. Let’s make sure everyone can walk safely and comfortably in our beautiful community.
Thank you so much in advance for doing your part.
