Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the Israeli Air Force is now conducting direct “stand-in” strikes over Tehran, with aircraft releasing munitions directly above designated targets rather than firing from afar.

He said that, for the first time since the start of Operation Roaring Lion, Israeli jets are flying over the Iranian capital to carry out what he described as a significant assault on regime and internal security infrastructure.

Until now, strikes in Tehran had relied primarily on stand-off weapons launched from a distance, typically equipped with smaller payloads.

The shift to stand-in operations follows what the military says was the achievement of air superiority and the clearing of an aerial corridor to the city.

Katz added that sustained and intensified strikes are expected to continue over Tehran.
