
Active Shooter Opens Fire Near 2 Synagogues in Baltimore, Police Officer Wounded
An active shooter opened fire Tuesday afternoon near 2 synagogues in Baltimore, located in the city’s quiet Glen neighborhood.
The incident began around 10:00 a.m. with a hostage standoff involving police. During that confrontation, the suspect was shot and killed by law enforcement.

Authorities have not yet released full details about the hostage situation or whether anyone else was injured during the initial standoff.
Hours later, shots rang out near the Agudath Israel of Baltimore, also known as Goldberg’s, just after 12:30 p.m., prompting a heavy police response.The shooting occurred near two synagogues located across from each other on the 6200 block of Park Heights Avenue. Agudath Israel of Baltimore, which is led by Rabbi Moshe Heinemann. Directly across the street is Tiferes Yisroel, led by Rabbi Menachem Goldberger, which sits closer to the location where the gunfire was reported.
A Baltimore police officer was struck during the incident and transported to the University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma Center for treatment.
Information about the suspect has not yet been released.

Police have urged the public to avoid the area around Park Heights Avenue while officers continue responding to what officials described as an active shooter incident.
The synagogue holds daily services, including a 12:30 p.m. Mincha afternoon prayer. It remains unclear whether the service was underway at the time of the shooting or how many people were inside the building.
