At the same time, the State Department has been randomly emailing people on the list about rescue flights, but there doesn’t seem to be any clear system or way to know about them in advance. There are also reports that the government has allocated $40 million for these rescue flights.
Many travelers are frustrated with El Al, as some people who had already booked tickets are being bumped or having their flights canceled, while others are still managing to get seats on those same flights.
