A bicycle rider was fatally struck by a truck Wednesday at the intersection of 16th Avenue and 49th Street, prompting a large emergency response and the closure of the area for investigation.

CPR was performed on the victim by Hatzolah members at the scene, but the individual was later pronounced dead.

Police have closed off the intersection as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and expect traffic disruptions while the investigation remains ongoing.

Chevra Kadisha was not needed at the scene.
