Trump Warns NATO Of “Very Bad Future” If Allies Refuse To Help Secure Strait Of Hormuz
President Donald Trump warned that NATO could face a “very bad future” if U.S. allies refuse to assist the United States in securing the Strait of Hormuz during the ongoing conflict with Iran.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Trump said countries that rely on the critical waterway should take part in protecting it, noting that the strait is one of the most vital global energy routes and carries a significant share of the world’s oil supply.

Trump also pointed to China’s dependence on the shipping lane, saying Beijing should help ensure its security as well. According to Trump, China receives roughly 90 percent of its oil imports through the Strait of Hormuz and therefore has a major stake in keeping the route open.
The comments come as tensions remain high in the region and concerns grow about potential disruptions to global oil shipments passing through the narrow channel between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
