Lakewood Amazon Shoppers Can Now Receive Packages Even Quicker As Company Launches Ultra-fast Delivery Options
Lakewood area residents can now receive thousands of everyday items from Amazon within just a few hours, as the online retail giant introduced new ultra-fast delivery options across the United States.
The company today announced that customers in more than 2,000 cities, towns and suburban communities across the country can now order from a selection of over 90,000 products and have them delivered within three hours. The items include household essentials such as pantry staples, cleaning supplies, over-the-counter medications, electronics, toys and clothing.
For the Lakewood area, and across most of New Jersey, shoppers can now choose the three-hour delivery option for eligible items when placing orders online. For members of the company’s Prime subscription service, the three-hour delivery costs $4.99, while non-members pay $14.99.
Amazon is also introducing a faster one-hour delivery service in hundreds of locations nationwide, primarily in larger metropolitan areas and select smaller cities. That option costs $9.99 for Prime members and $19.99 for non-members.
The Seattle-based company said the expansion builds on its growing same-day delivery network, which relies on nearby fulfillment centers and specialized sorting systems to move packages from warehouse shelves to customers’ doorsteps within hours.
Amazon said the new delivery speeds are intended to make it easier for customers to quickly replace everyday necessities, such as paper towels, diapers or household supplies, without making a trip to the store. The move also intensifies competition with retailers such as Walmart that have been expanding their own same-day delivery services.
Customers can see whether an item qualifies for rapid delivery by checking delivery options at checkout or browsing Amazon’s same-day storefront online.
