CLUSTER CHAOS: Iran Rains Missile Salvos on Israel, Streets Shaken but No Casualties
Iran fired seven salvos of missiles toward central and northern Israel Tuesday. Some of the warheads carried cluster bomb munitions. While the IDF intercepted most of the missiles, several exploded on impact in central Israel, including smaller bombs from the cluster warheads that spread out over a larger area before landing and exploding.
The impacts damaged buildings, roads, and a train station and flipped a car over, but no injuries were reported. The impacts formed small craters in roads and other areas. Medics reported treating people who sustained light injuries as a result of rushing to shelters and others for severe anxiety induced by the attacks.
Meanwhile, in addition to its overnight strikes in Iran that eliminated top-ranking officials, including the former senior adviser to Ali Khamenei and the commander of the Basij paramilitary group, the IDF said it has continued to strike key targets in Iran throughout the day Tuesday.
The military said that, on Monday, its Iran strikes destroyed strategic command centers such as multiple security headquarters and facilities used for manufacturing and storing ballistic missiles, drones and air defense systems. The strikes were part of a “phase of deepening the blows to the core systems and capabilities of the Iranian terror regime,” the IDF said.
The Israelis have indicated that they aim to weaken the regime to the point that the Iranian people can rise up and topple it themselves. But in a show of defiance, security forces and regime supporters rode through the streets on motorcycles, brandishing their weapons, possibly to intimidate would-be protesters.
