NYC First Lady Rama Duwaji Linked to Anti-Israel Campaign

Mar 23, 2026·2 min read

Controversy around New York City’s First Lady is erupting once again, after reports revealed she played a direct role in creating artwork for an anti-Israel political campaign tied to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

According to reports, Duwaji contributed illustrations and visual content to the campaign website “Palestine On The Ballot,” a political initiative aimed at influencing Democratic primary elections based on candidates’ positions on Israel.

The campaign promoted candidates who oppose U.S. military aid to Israel and supported legislation such as the “Not on Our Dime Act,” which seeks to penalize certain charities connected to Israeli activity.

The initiative also targeted candidates backed by pro-Israel groups and encouraged voters to prioritize the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a central election issue, marking a significant escalation of the issue in domestic U.S. politics.

Duwaji’s involvement is drawing heightened scrutiny given her position as the spouse of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, as well as her broader history of politically charged artwork and activism.

The NYC first lady has found herself in the center of many contrevials stoeis recently, however, participation in a campaign explicitly opposing Israel crosses a new line, especially for someone closely tied to City Hall. Jewish leaders and activists continue to worry and criticize her involvement, accusing the campaign, and by extension those involved, of promoting anti-Israel and antisemitic narratives.

Despite the growing number of stories, both Duwaji, the Mayor, have largely remained silent on these revelations. Mayor Mamdani has previously defended his wife as a private citizen with no formal role in his administration, even as scrutiny surrounding her activism continues to intensify.
