Jewish Residents Confront Al Jazeera Crew After Antisemitic Hatzalah Arson Attack in London
Jewish community members in Golders Green, London confronted an Al Jazeera reporter and cameraman, telling them to leave the area after they arrived to cover a suspected antisemitic arson attack.
The incident unfolded at the scene where four Hatzalah ambulances were set on fire overnight, in what authorities are investigating as a targeted attack. No injuries have been reported, but the destruction of emergency response vehicles has sparked outrage and fear within the local Jewish community.
According to those on scene, several residents later told police they felt unsafe with the crew present, expressing concern that footage of the area could potentially be seen by hostile actors or terrorists. An officer at the scene reportedly responded, “I understand.”
The confrontation reflects growing tensions, with some community members accusing the network of biased coverage and insensitivity following attacks targeting Jewish institutions.
Al Jazeera has faced heavy criticism from Israeli officials and was banned in Israel following October 7, citing allegations of spreading false or misleading information.
Police and fire services remain on scene as the investigation continues.
