According to the New York Times, Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has reportedly been urging President Trump to press forward with the war against Iran. He views the joint U.S.–Israel campaign as a rare strategic chance to reshape the Middle East, according to sources briefed on discussions with American officials.

Over the past week, the crown prince has communicated to Trump that the effort should move toward dismantling Iran’s hardline regime, individuals familiar with the talks said.

He has also emphasized that Iran represents a sustained threat to Gulf stability—one that, in his view, can only be removed by overthrowing its current government.
