50 Israeli Companies Wiped Out Digitally in Coordinated Cyberattack

Mar 24, 2026·2 min read

A large and destructive cyberattack has struck Israel’s private sector, with roughly 50 Israeli companies having their digital systems effectively erased in what can be described as one of the most severe cyber incidents in recent years.

According to Israel’s National Cyber Director, Yossi Karadi, the attack was not a standard data breach or money-making attempt, but a “wiper” operation designed to destroy the digital infrastructure. In most cases, hackers accessed sensitive information, and then they systematically deleted servers, backups, and critical business data, which left many companies unable to operate.

The attackers gained entry through compromised credentials and unsecured access systems, allowing them to move laterally within the networks undetected. Once inside, they established control over systems before deleting commands that make recovery extremely difficult.

Affected businesses range from small to mid-sized companies that lack proper cyber defenses, making them more vulnerable to this type of sophisticated hacking attack. In several cases, the entire process was done within minutes.

Israeli authorities have been dealing with tens of thousands of cyber incidents annually, but note that this latest wave represents an alarming shift toward destructive attacks meant to cause long-term economic damage rather than espionage or short-term disruption.

Cybersecurity officials also remind us that there is effectively “no ceasefire in cyberspace,” with Iranian-linked hacker groups continuously trying to disrupt Israeli infrastructure, businesses, and government systems.

All Israeli companies are urged to immediately strengthen cybersecurity defenses, including multi-factor authentication, and secure backup systems. Additional attacks are likely, and organizations must prepare for increasingly aggressive and destructive tactics.
