Mar 24, 2026·1 min read

The Israel Defense Forces and Israeli Air Force issued a joint statement Tuesday announcing the elimination of Muhammad Ali Kourani, a Quds Force terrorist operating in Lebanon who was planning terror attacks against Israel under Iran’s direction.

Acting on intelligence from the IAF, the Israeli navy conducted the strike in Beirut that killed Kourani. The military emphasized that Kourani belonged to the Quds Force and was taking direction from Iran. The Quds Force operates as an arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, an elite unit that conducts operations in foreign countries and provides support for Iran’s proxies, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Hamas.

According to the statement, Iranian intelligence continues to operate in Lebanon to provide guidance for terror attacks to local operatives.

“The IDF and ISA will continue to thwart Iranian terrorist activity in Lebanon and remove any threat posed to the civilians of the State of Israel,” the statement said.

According to the news outlet Aleph, Kourani survived a strike in Hamzieh three weeks ago, having left the targeted Comfort Hotel moments before the strike.
