The Israeli government has authorized the IDF to call up as many as 400,000 reservists, establishing a maximum threshold rather than an immediate mobilization figure.

According to the military, the number serves as a flexible ceiling, allowing forces to scale manpower quickly based on evolving operational demands across multiple fronts, particularly under the ongoing “Operation Roaring Lion.”

This approval continues a recurring wartime framework in place since October 2023, where emergency draft authorizations are periodically renewed.

Under normal conditions, the IDF is restricted from issuing large-scale, short-notice call-ups or extending reserve service for prolonged periods—limitations that are lifted under the current emergency measures.
