Iran Missile Misses Major Power Plant as Barrage Triggers Nationwide Alarms

Mar 25, 2026·2 min read

As diplomats were working behind the scenes to try to end the war with a ceasefire deal and Israel continued striking targets in Tehran, an Iranian ballistic missile aimed at Israel’s largest power plant fell wide of its mark and landed in an open field in northern Israel Wednesday.

The attack, the fourth since midnight, triggered alarms throughout Israel. According to initial military assessments, most of the missiles in these attacks were intercepted, but emergency responders were dispatched to areas where falling missile fragments were reported.

A missile landing in an open area near Hadera — where the Orot Rabin power station, Israel’s largest power plant, is located — caused no injuries. Following the attack, the Israel Electric Corporation reported no damage to its infrastructure.

Iran had previously warned that it would target Israeli energy infrastructure, and damage from missile fragments in Haifa caused the temporary closure of the Bazan oil refinery.

Iranian state media, including the judiciary’s Mizan Online website, published infographics Monday showing potential targets in Israel, such as the Orot Rabin power station and the Rutenberg power station, Israel’s second-largest power plant.

By Wednesday afternoon, seven more salvos of missiles were launched from Iran that set off alerts across the country from the north to Eilat in the south. A simultaneous missile attack from Iran and rocket fire from Hezbollah targeted Dimona and triggered sirens in Ma’alot-Tarshiha and nearby towns in the Galilee.
