The Israel Defense Forces on Thursday announced the death of Sgt. Ori Greenberg hy”d, 21, from Petah Tikva, a fighter in Sayeret Golani, the elite special forces unit of the IDF. He fell in combat in southern Lebanon.

The incident occurred at around 2:10 a.m. during an offensive operation in a village, when Golani forces encountered a Hezbollah terrorist cell that opened fire. Greenberg was was sadly killed in the shooting.

Two other soldiers were wounded and evacuated to the hospital. IDF forces returned fire, eliminating some of the terrorists.

Greenberg was the son of Lt. Col. (res.) Amotz Greenberg hy”d, who was also killed in action during Operation Protective Edge in 2014, when Ori was only 12 years old.
