Falling Missile Debris Kills Two in UAE After Missile Intercept as Toll Climbs
Following the successful interception of a ballistic missile launched from Iran toward the United Arab Emirates, two civilians, one from Pakistan and one from India, were killed by falling debris Thursday. The missile was intercepted over Sweihan Street in Abu Dhabi near the airport. The deaths raise the UAE’s death toll from Iranian missile and drone attacks to eleven.
Officials reported earlier that three others sustained injuries and several vehicles were damaged by the intercepted strike. Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and verify facts instead of relying on rumors.
The Abu Dhabi official media account issued a statement regarding the incident.
“Abu Dhabi authorities have responded to an incident involving falling debris in Sweihan street, following the successful interception of a ballistic missile by air defence systems,” the statement said. “The incident resulted in the deaths of two unidentified individuals, three injuries, and damage to a number of cars. Further updates will be provided in due course. The public is advised to obtain information only from official sources and to avoid spreading rumours or unverified information.”
The UAE intercepted 15 missiles and 11 drones Thursday, bringing the count of successfully intercepted aerial munitions since the beginning of the war to 372 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,826 drones.
In addition to the 11 Emirati civilians killed since the war began, other civilians of other nationalities have been killed in the UAE. Eight people from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Judea/Samaria and India have also been killed.
