Letter: Attention School Administrators, Rebbeim and Teachers

Mar 29, 2026·1 min read

My son came home from school on Thursday and shared how impressed he was with his teacher. During class, several students mentioned they were hungry, and the teacher took the initiative to go to the lunchroom and bring back food for them.

This teacher recognized something important. Leading up to Pesach, many children are coming to school with fewer snacks than usual, as their homes are cleaned for Pesach – but not yet stocked for Yom Tov either.

It’s something for all rebbeim and teachers to keep in mind. The hunger can also affect kids’ behavior, making them more irritable or less focused during class.

And to the teacher who stepped in so thoughtfully, Tizku L’mitzvos!

Sincerely,
A grateful mother
