IDF Eliminates Senior Hezbollah Commander in Lebanon Strikes

Mar 30, 2026·2 min read

The IDF announced Monday the elimination of senior Hezbollah commander Hamza Ibrahim Rakin, who served as deputy commander of Unit 1800, along with the unit’s operations officer and another terrorist. This unit aids terrorists in Gaza, Judea and Samaria by providing them with weapons, funding, and bomb-making instructions. The unit also coordinates with terrorists operating out of Lebanon and Syria.

According to the military, Rakin provided a vital link in the coordination efforts by serving as a liaison among the various terrorist organizations in these regions. He also conducted oversight over the transfer of these terrorists to southern Lebanon to join the fighting against the IDF.

The IDF said it continued to carry out strikes in Beirut and southern Lebanon throughout the day, targeting key command centers that belonged to Hezbollah.

Separately, the IDF said that troops of the 226th Brigade under the command of the 146th Division eliminated an entire cell of terrorists after identifying the cell as Hezbollah, acting to remove the threat. The troops also dismantled a Hezbollah command center and discovered a missile launcher and anti-tank missiles.

The IDF vowed that it would continue to act against any threat to Israeli citizens, saying Hezbollah would pay a price for joining the war on Iran’s behalf.

“The IDF will continue to operate decisively against the Hezbollah terrorist organization, which has chosen to join the hostilities and operate under the auspices of the Iranian terrorist regime,” the military said in a statement posted to Instagram. “The IDF will not allow harm to Israeli civilians.”
