Unconfirmed Reports: U.S. F-15E Downed Over Iran, Pilot May Be Captured as American Rescue Aircraft Deploy Inside Iranian Territory

Apr 3, 2026·1 min read

Iranian media outlets are circulating footage allegedly showing U.S. HC-130J and HH-60G rescue aircraft operating over southern Iran, suggesting a possible Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mission underway.

The reported activity follows unconfirmed claims that a U.S. F-15E fighter jet crashed inside Iranian territory. According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, one pilot ejected from the aircraft after it was reportedly shot down and may have been taken into custody by Iranian forces.

Additional reports indicate that U.S. CSAR units, including Black Hawk helicopters and a C-130 platform, entered southern Iran in an effort to locate and recover the missing aircrew.

There has been no official confirmation from the U.S. military regarding the downing of the aircraft, the status of the pilots, or the reported rescue operation.
