Israel Warns Iran May Launch Missiles as IDF Escalates Largest Hezbollah Strike Wave in Lebanon Despite Ceasefire Framework

Apr 8, 2026·2 min read

Israel is now bracing for the possibility of renewed direct Iranian fire after the IDF kept striking Hezbollah terror targets in Lebanon. Kan reported that Israeli intelligence believes Tehran is considering launching missiles at Israel if the Lebanon campaign continues, that Iranian officials have already issued explicit threats, and that Israel’s security cabinet is expected to discuss the scenario and possible responses.

The threat surfaced just as Israel and Washington made clear that the U.S.-Iran ceasefire does not cover Lebanon. Reuters reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the two-week pause on strikes against Iran excludes Lebanon, while President Donald Trump said Lebanon is “not part” of the deal and described the fighting there as a “separate skirmish.”

That matters because the pressure on Hezbollah has sharply intensified. Reuters said the IDF described Wednesday’s operation as its largest strike wave against Hezbollah since this war began, and Israeli officials told reporters that 50 fighter jets dropped roughly 160 munitions on 100 targets in about 10 minutes. According to the IDF, the targets included Hezbollah command centers, intelligence sites, rocket and naval infrastructure, and assets tied to the Radwan force and the group’s aerial unit.

For now, there is no verified report of a fresh Iranian launch at Israel. But the danger is no longer abstract: Reuters also reported that Tasnim cited an Iranian source warning Tehran could withdraw from the ceasefire if Israeli strikes in Lebanon continue. In other words, Israel’s campaign against Hezbollah is now shaping up as the main fault line that could drag Iran back into direct confrontation.
