The Lakewood Police Department SRT (Special Response Team) and DFR (Drone First Responder) units recently conducted joint training operations at the Strand Theater, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance preparedness for critical incidents.

The hands-on training exercise focused on strengthening coordination between tactical units and advancing the department’s use of emerging technology in real-time scenarios. By integrating drone capabilities with specialized response teams, officers are able to gain increased situational awareness, allowing for more informed and timely decision-making during high-risk situations.

Officials say exercises like these play a key role in improving response times and ensuring that officers are equipped to handle complex emergencies as safely and effectively as possible.
