Lakewood Fire Responds Mutual Aid Into Howell for Residential Structure Fire

A residential structure fire in Howell Township on Saturday afternoon prompted a large multi-agency response, including mutual aid from the Lakewood Fire Department.

According to Howell Township Police, units were dispatched at approximately 1:53 PM to a residence on Dutch Valley Road following reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, officers observed heavy black smoke and active flames coming from the rear of the home.

All occupants and animals were able to safely evacuate prior to the arrival of emergency personnel, and no injuries were reported.

Numerous agencies responded to assist with fire suppression, investigation, and support services. Among those on scene were Southard Fire Department, Freewood Acres Fire Company, Squankum Fire Company, Ramtown Fire Company, Jackson Township Fire Department, Lakewood Fire Department, South Wall Fire Company, Howell Police EMS, Howell Township First Aid, the Howell Township Fire Bureau, the Monmouth County Fire Marshal, New Jersey Natural Gas, and the American Red Cross.

There were no reported injuries to responding personnel.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Howell Township Fire Bureau and the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.
