I am writing as a local woman who has been trying to purchase a sheitel. I keep seeing many sheitel companies advertising, but the ads do not mention any kosher certification confirming that the hair is not Indian hair.

When I took the time to call a few of these companies, I found out that many of them actually do have a kosher certification. This has made the process very confusing and difficult for me. My rav, along with many other rabbanim, advises to only purchase a sheitel with a reliable kosher certification.

If these companies are already paying for the certification, why not put it on the ad the way every food establishment does? It would be so helpful for women like me who are just trying to do the right thing. Seeing the certification in the ad would make it much easier and less stressful to buy a wig I can feel comfortable wearing.
