Tens of Thousands of Bees Swarm Netivot Commercial Center, Forcing Businesses To Shut Doors as Massive Clouds Fill Streets
An unusual bee swarm swept through Netivot’s commercial center, with footage from the scene showing huge clouds of bees moving above the area and clustering on parked cars. Local reports said shop owners closed doors and windows in the middle of the day as the swarm moved through.
The incident was not limited to one corner of the city. A local beekeeper told N12 she received dozens of calls and messages reporting heavy bee activity in homes and businesses across Netivot, suggesting the swarm was wider than the commercial center footage alone.
Scenes like these often happen when a honeybee colony splits and part of it leaves with a queen to form a new colony. Swarms are most common in spring and early summer, and experts note that swarming bees are generally less aggressive than bees defending an established hive, though people should still avoid disturbing them.
