Fireworks erupted during last night’s council meeting in Jackson meeting, when Elliot Shemtov got up to speak and challenge Council President Mordechai Burnstein about a post on social media – and the Council President shot back.

Shemtov, who is trying to gather votes to run for Mayor in Jackson, accused Burnstein of posting a false statement when he slammed the mayoral hopeful for meeting with a woman who praises the now-dead dictator and murderer Ayatollah Khamenei as a “wise and peaceful man”.

Shemtov attempted to defend his meeting – which was allegedly to gain votes – but Burnstein answered that this was a red line nobody should ever cross.
