15 Years Later: Hit-and-Run Killer of Israeli Woman Taken Out in Execution-Style Shooting in Paris
Eric Robic, the French driver convicted in the 2011 hit and run that killed Israeli woman Lee Zeitouni in Tel Aviv, was shot dead Thursday morning in what authorities describe as a calculated, execution style attack in Paris.

Two assailants riding a scooter approached Robic and opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene within seconds. Witnesses described the attack as precise and deliberate, with no attempt at robbery, which would strongly suggest it was a targeted hit. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate Robic, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.
For many Israelis, the name Robic reminds them of a painful episode, which now seems to have come full circle. In 2011, he struck and killed 25-year-old Lee Zeitouni while driving drunk and at high speed and then fled the country to France, avoiding immediate justice and causing public outrage. He was eventually sentenced to 5 years in jail, which he served. Many felt that the punishment was too light considering the crime.
Now, years later, his life has ended in a way that seems almost ironic, cut down suddenly, violently, and in broad daylight. The police force has launched a full investigation into the killing, with early indications hinting it may have been a revenge-style hit rather than random violence.
It’s hard to say which of Robic’s many enemies pulled this off, as he has a long record of being a hardened criminal. However, his hit and run is his most violent crime, and it is hard to ignore the chain of events.
