Israeli Navy Reveals Shayetet 13 Operation Thousands of Kilometers Away, Record Submarine Mission and Dozens of Drone Intercepts During Iran War
The Israeli Navy has revealed that its elite Shayetet 13 carried out a highly unusual operation during the war, deep in a location “thousands of kilometers” from Israel—an area where the unit had never previously operated. No additional details were provided regarding the timing, location, or nature of the mission.

The Navy also confirmed that one of its submarines operated at the greatest distance ever recorded in the history of the fleet during the conflict with Iran. Submarines were deployed simultaneously across three separate arenas, spread thousands of kilometers apart.
During the war, naval forces responded to roughly 40 aerial threat incidents, intercepting dozens of drones. Israeli warships carried out 53 strikes in Lebanon and six in Gaza, while the Naval Intelligence Division played a role in planning approximately 95 airstrikes in Iran.
The disclosures come as Vice Adm. Eyal Harel assumes command of the Navy, replacing Vice Adm. David Saar Salama, who is retiring after 39 years of service. The handover ceremony is being held at the Atlit naval base near Haifa.
