WARM EMBRACE: Netanyahu, Milei Meet in Jerusalem

Apr 19, 2026·2 min read

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Argentine President Javier Milei kicked off their much-anticipated meeting with a warm embrace, where the two are expected to announce a new direct flight between Ben Gurion Airport and Buenos Aires.

Following the meeting, the two will sign the historic Isaac Accords, strengthening ties between the two solid allies. Milei has proved to be Israel’s most vocal supporter and stalwart ally since taking office two and a half years ago, and he has even announced his intention to convert to Judaism once his term ends.

Meetings took place between senior officials as well — Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met with his Argentine counterpart, Pablo Quirno, where they discussed ways to strengthen ties between the two nations.

“Great meeting with my friend Argentina’s FM @pabloquirno in Jerusalem, during the historic visit of President @JMilei,” Sa’ar posted on X. “The President will light a torch on our Independence Day, the first foreign leader to have that honor.”

He then went on to list exciting new developments in the Israel-Argentina relationship:

  • The promised announcement of the launch of a direct flight between the two countries.
  • The investment of $150 million in Israeli businesses in Argentina.
  • The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on counterterrorism cooperation
  • The signing of an MOU on an AI partnership.

Statements are anticipated by both Netanyahu and Milei, as well as other senior ministers. Meanwhile, Netanyahu posted an enthusiastic welcome on X.

“Welcome to Israel, welcome to Jerusalem, my friend, President of Argentina Javier Milei, a great friend of the State of Israel,” he wrote. “Israel and Argentina stand together, stronger than ever.”
